Side Planks – Variations

By Jeff Lindstrom On July 6, 2011 Under Exercise, Tips, Women

Today’s video is going to show you a variety of Side Plank positions.  This is a great video for anyone! It doesn’t matter if you are beginner or advanced.  There are lots of options to keep your workouts interesting. Make sure you are able to hold the Side Planks for 30+ seconds before adding a progression to them.

When in the plank position, keep the shoulders square to ensure you are in proper posture.  The better the posture, the safer it is on your body and particularly the spine.

For the most part, a lot of these variations can be done anywhere.  All you need is your body weight!

However, my more advanced exercises include a Dumbbell, Bosu Ball and Low Pulley Machine.

By including planking exercises in your routine will help you build a strong core which is great for posture, function, reducing low back pain, and tighten up the trunk.

In any case check out my video and feel free to comment!
