You can’t spot reduce body fat!

By Jeff Lindstrom On May 18, 2010 Under Eating, Exercise, Fitness Program, Tips, Women

What exactly does spot reduction mean? This refers to the misconception that you can burn body fat off a particular area that you wish.

There are so many different fitness products and exercise machines that promise “results” in particular trouble spots. These areas can be the abs, oblique’s (love handles), arms, butt, legs, to know a few. Does the abdominizer, thigh master for example sound familiar to you?

Well my 90 Day Overhaul e Book educates you on how to burn body fat and increase your lean muscle mass. This itself will help you lose your unwanted body fat. We unfortunately can not control where we lose our fat from when eating, living and exercising well. Genetics will definitely have big influence!

You will find that some products and programs out there are about training that particular area and promising reduction. For example, do a variety of crunches with the ab roller and within weeks you will have an amazing six pack! They make you believe that by using their product, you will get in the shape their fitness models on the commercials are in.

Or do lots of thigh master exercises and your leg fat will be gone! No no no! You will certainly develop muscle underlying the body fat but without proper nutrition, incorporating cardio and strength training into your lifestyle, this is a dead end for you.

As you will find in my Overhaul e Book there are some important points I want you to remember!

1) You need to eat the right amount of calories so your body can burn fat. If you eat too many calories, you will put on fat, if you eat too little you will lose nothing except for your muscle mass.

2) Workout regularly and consistently to turn your body in to a fat burning machine. This means full body circuits with emphasis on your big muscle groups, chest, back, legs and core. Make sure you work when doing cardio, the more intense your workouts, the more calories you burn!

3) Keep your stress levels low so the cortisol (stress fighting hormone) doesn’t eat away at your muscles. The less lean muscle mass you have on your body the lower your metabolism will be!

So just remember be wary of any fitness product promising results in particular areas. If you turn your body into a fat burning machine with lots of tips found in my Overhaul e Book you will be just fine.

Again we can’t choose where our body fat decreases from we can but we certainly can have a big influence on how we eat, train and take care of ourselves. Give your body a reason to burn fat from everywhere!
