Importance of eating

By Jeff Lindstrom On March 2, 2011 Under Eating, Life, Tips

Eating right is the key to your success! I can’t emphasize that enough when we talk about achieving goals and getting the body you desire.  If you take on average how many meals you eat in a week, we could say 21.  That would take into account, breakfast, lunch and dinner.  I often tell my clients if you eat well 80-90% of the time, you will be successful.  It will never be perfect but if you are eating poorly majority of the time.  It’s going to be a hard time for you to achieve your goals.

Take into consideration the example of 21 meals and perhaps 3 workouts a week.  See why we talk about the importance of eating? It’s much easier to consume 1000 calories in a single sitting then trying to burn that off in the same time.  It’s not possible! If you are serious about results, cut out the sugars, white flour, processed, fried foods, pop, fast foods and simple carbohydrates.  Simple carbs being white breads, white rices, sugary fruit juices etc.

Drink plenty of clean water throughout the day, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, some lean meats, and organic dairy whenever possible!

I find that people are hard on themselves when they go out and have a dinner out.  It’s easy like I said to consume quite a few calories in a sitting but if it’s once in a while you will be fine.  Unwanted weight gain occurs when people are making poor choices day in and day out and your body simply doesn’t have the metabolism to burn it off.

I encourage my clients to make sure they have some small snacks before their major meals to help curb the hunger.  For example, a handful of almonds, macadamia nuts, pecans, or plain organic yogurt with some stevia to sweeten it up.  Some go into meals starving and therefore overeat as a result.

If you are eating out, I suggest ordering a house salad with a light vinaigrette dressing on the side.  Order some veggies on the side and look for grilled chicken or salmon.

What I really want you to get out of this is be aware of what you put into your body.  The healthier you eat, the better you will feel and your body will reward you.  Also it will decrease your health risks and reduce complications as you age.

Working out and being active is very important but eating smart will accelerate your results!
