Bosu Ball Leg Exercise – 1 Leg Hop

By Jeff Lindstrom On February 16, 2011 Under Exercise

It’s been a crazy busy week at work but I’m loving every minute of it.  Been hard to find time in the day for workouts but I’m still getting them done! Here is one of my favourite leg exercises using the Bosu Ball.

Standing on one leg in front of the ball, hop on and balance with the same leg, then hop back off.  It doesn’t matter which way you come off.  Do your best to stay on the one leg.  Do this 10-12 times, and switch legs.  This is an awesome exercise to challenge your balance, get your heart rate up, and work your legs! Don’t stand too close to the ball in case you catch your toe on the lip.

Try to avoid machines as they are minimal benefit to our bodies. They isolate our bodies and don’t prepare us for functional strength or stability.  You get way more muscles involved when doing body weight, primal pattern type movements.  These primal patterns consist of pushing, pulling, bending, lunging, squatting, bending and rotating.  Remember, the more muscles you can involve in workouts consisting of your biggest muscles, will create the largest caloric expenditure! This is key especially if you are trying to lose those unwanted pounds!

Happy training!!!
